Purpose

Greetings Everyone! This blog is about all things related to riding, traveling, or touring by motorcycle in the Southern United States (Dixie to some people, thus the name of this blog), with an occasional side trip to other areas. I will be providing information on everything ranging from short trips to multi-day interstate rides. A concerted effort will be made to post newsworthy events, rally dates/places, points of interest, scenic routes, biker friendly establishments (hotels/motels, campgrounds, etc.), and good places I’ve found to either grab a quick bite or have a lavish meal, especially when they are “mom and pop” or unique and/or tucked away on some seldom traveled back road or small town. Unfortunately for now updates here will be a bit sporadic since much of my time is taken up by my “real job” that keeps me on the road (in a car) much of the “traditional” riding season.

My personal passion while riding is charity events such as poker runs that benefit Cancer victims and/or their families, crime victims, disaster recovery efforts, Toys For Tots, Ride For Kids, U.S. veteran service organizations, etc.  Because of this passion many of my ride reports and event list(s) will include information on these types of events as well as the usual, “hey, I went to…. today”.  I hope to be able to arrange events such as these in the future, and if possible include survivors, and victims families, in the events.  If you have experience in this area, and are willing to donate your services, please drop me a note using the “Contact Us” link at the top of every page.

All readers are encouraged to let me know about other motorcycle related events in their area and/or any of the other items mentioned above.
